Whitley Reserves took on local rivals North Shields at their new home at Ralph Gardener Park. Debuts were given to Annie Townsend and Kim Pye and a welcome return from injury was made by Clare Tennet. Whitley won the game 4-2 with a brace from Brooke Wilkinson and goals from Catherine Shields and Laurel Davidson in reply to 2 from Shields striker Steph Towns. Whitley also used a number of Development squad players to give them a taste of adult football. Overall a satisfactory night for manager Andy Windscheffel. - 'We played well in parts and made a number of changes to give everyone a run out'

A mixture of Reserves, Development and trialists were comprehensively beaten by a Tyneside team whose organisation pace and passing cut through the makeshift Bay side. Whitley looked disorganised, hardly surprising for a team that had been intorduced to each other 45 minutes before the game. They battled well but were unable to get any kind of game together. There was plenty food for though for the watching Bay First team manager Colin Phillips ' I was looking at some individual performances and the workrate, some of which was good and some not so good'

Whitley travelled to Brandon to take on the former Spennymoor side in an eagerly awaited first match of the season. Whitley controlled the early period of the game and on 13 minutes went one up as a Katie Luther shot rebounded to Janine Fagan who finished well. Brandon fought back and drew level on 19 minutes to make the score 1-1 at half time. Just after the interval Brandon went 2-1 up and Whitley drew level just on the hour when Charlie Gorman fed Julie Smith who finished well. On 75 minutes Brandon scored what proved to be the winner despite Whitley's efforts to get something from the game. Manager Andy Windscheffel was disappointed in defeat ' We conceded possession and were punished by some good finishing, but we showed we can compete at this level and there were some positive signs we can draw from the game'

Cramlington |
5-2 |
Fagan 3, Smith 2 |

Whitley made their shortest journey of the season to face newly promoted Cramlington. They made a great start and were 3-0 up within 20 minutes as firstly Charlie Gorman played a ball into the box for Julie Smith to win a header and place the ball past the keeper. Next, on 15 minutes, Nikki Flood, making her Reserves debut set up Janine Fagan who slotted home with style. The third was a carbon copy of the second, this time with Abi Young the provider for Smith to claim her second. Whitley then allowed Cramilngton into the game and they clawed back 2 goals, before Whitley went into the interval 4-2 up with a goal in the 43rd minute as Gorman again fed Fagan for her second goal. The game was over as a contest on 75 minutes when great interchange between Megan Tighe and Flood led to a wonder strike from Fagan that crashed in off the underside of the bar for her deserved hat-trick. Manager Andy Windscheffel was pleased with the performance 'We played well throughout the game apart from a brief spell just before half time. There were some excellent goals scored from good team work'
