Whitley Bay Women Reserves played their first ever competitive match against Cramlington Juniors at Marden Bridge. They made a great start when on 2 mins a through ball from midfield by Jill Stacey, was pressured by Julie Smith which led to the ball breaking to Abby Forster who hammered home from close range.
They doubled their advantage on the quarter hour mark when a 30 yard crossfield ball from Stacey was gathered by Natasha Ratcliffe on the right who coolly slotted home across the keeper.
5 mintes later Cramlington reduced the arrears when a right wing cross along the ground was met by sliding interception by a Whitley defender and the ball cruelly ended up in the Whitley net.
After 24 minutes a positive comeback after conceding led to a Whitley corner. A great ball Tasha Ratcliffe found the head of Janine Fagan who headed it down into corner of the net for 3-1 to Whitley.
Whitleys next goal was the result of a great passing movement starting from Neeley Spicer at the back via Forster and Stacey then to Steph Hutchinson who coolly slotted it past the keeper.
With half time approaching Whitleys 5th was the goal of the game. A strong run up wing from Forster saw her feed the ball through to Smith who carried it few yards then curled one into the top corner.
However, within 2 minutes Cramlington had pulled another goal back when Whitleys defence failed to clear the ball under pressure and a long range shot caught the Whitley keeper off her line to make it 5-2 to Whitley at half time.
After the interval, Cramlington re-grouped into a more defensive unit and it looked like the second half could be goal-less until 5 minutes from the end when another great Tash Ratcliffe corner was met by Fagan to head home for
a carbon copy of her first goal to make the final score 6-2. Manager Claire Tennet was happy with the win 'It was good to make a winning start and there were some great performances from this very young team'

This was a battling performance from Whitley in a wind spoilt game. Blue Star took lead after 23 minutes when Whitley failed to clear a corner and the ball was hammered home from close range. Whitley couldn't settle on the ball but finally got their passing going to create an opening for Abby to carry the ball down the left wing cut in and coolly finish accross the keeper on the stroke of half time. With the wind in second half Whitley started strongly, forcing numerous corners and finally a Tash Ratcliffe corner was flicked on by Kayleigh Dalziel and deflected into their own net by Blue Star after 52 mins. Within a minute Blue Star were level with a probing ball bouncing through the Whitley defence and lashed home by their pacy forward. Whitley kept up the pressure and regained the lead after 65 mins when a right wing cross from captain Janine Fagan was met by Julie Smith who side footed the ball past the keeper. Despite pressure from Blue Star Whitley held out for a well deserved victory. Manager Claire Tennet was pleased with the win 'The wind spoiled the game but I was pleased with the team's efforts and will to win'

Whitley got going from start and were rewarded with early breakthrough after a passing move started by Lauren Dunn in defence via Jill Stacey who put Julie Smith through to coolly finish after 2 minutes. This unsettled Tynedale who then gave away a penalty with a sloppy push in the box which Janine Fagan confidently placed in the corner making it 2-0 after 6 mins. Janine then made it 3-0 after 13 mins with a great left foot strike from edge of box. Whitley's persistance up front then led to an opening for Brooke Wilkinson to mark her club debut with a calm finish to make it 4-0 after 18 mins. Whitley continued to dominate and the pressure paid off after 35 mins when a cross from Janine was brilliantly controlled and converted home by Julie for her second of game to make the score 5-0. Straight from kick off Whitley maintained their pressure on the back four creating the opening for Leeanne Davison to make it 6-0. Right on half time Whitley then made it 7-0 when Leeanne's cross was met by Brooke on the volley for the goal of the game from the edge of the box. Whitley started strongly in the second half and earned the breakthrough after 52 mins when a Julie's cross was met by Leeanne for her second at back post. 2 minutes later Brookes constant pressure created an opening from which she made no mistake to hammer the ball past keeper and complete her hat trick making it 9-0. On the hour Brooke then claimed her fourth latching onto a free ball and showed she can finish with her right foot too! 5 min later Whitley were 11-0 up when Julie completed her hat trick with a great strike into top corner after breaking the off side trap. Ten minutes from time sub Kayleigh Dalziel latched onto a loose ball from a corner by Brooke to fire home and make it 12-0, then Kayleigh completed the scoring to make it 13-0 with a great header into the top corner again from a Brooke corner. Excellent team display reflected by the great last minute goal line clearance by Lauren Dunn to retain Whitley's clean sheet. The game was also notable for the appearance as a second half substitute by Player/Manager Claire Tennet. This was Claires first game back following a knee injury and it was good to see her back on the pitch.

Hard earned result for Whitley against a battling, well organised
Medics
side. Whitley took an early lead after 6 mins when Leeanne Davison
latched onto a loose ball and hammered it home from edge of box.
Whitley then sat back and allowed the Medics back into the game, who
equalised from long range on 11 minutes with Whitley guilty of not
closing down quick enough. It remained 1-1 until half time when
tactical changes were made in an attempt to break down the Medics.
Whitley were camped in the opposition half and finally took the lead
after 65 mins when sub Steph Hutchinson chased the ball down, rounded
the keeper and slotted home from a tight angle. On 75 mins Janine
Fagan
made it 3 connecting with a Tasha Ratcliffe corner on the half volley.
Janine got her second and completed the scoring five minutes from time
with a great free kick fired home from just outside the box making it
4-1 to Whitley.

A hard earned victory for Whitley over a much improved Cramlington team from our early season encounter. In an early morning kick off Whitley were caught napping allowing Cramlington early chances leading to the home team taking the lead after 11 minutes when a shot from outside the box bounced just in front of the keeper and into the net. This woke Whitley up who started to apply pressure to the back four and eventually a Stef Van Elwijk free kick was expertly controlled by Janine Fagan who then turned and fired home the equaliser on 24 minutes. Whitley had a lot of the play in the second half, with Julie Smith working tirelessly. Julie and Leeanne Davison both had shots well saved by the superb Cramlington keeper, but Whitley finally got the breakthrough 15 minutes from time when Janine fired home her second from close range after following in on her own shot, great effort from the Whitley captain. Whitley played out the game for a deserved victory maintaining their 100% record.

Whitley started the game with 3 up front and applied pressure to win the ball back and from the Blue Star kick off, keeper Charlotte Furno sent the ball long up the pitch which was latched onto by Leeanne Davison who lobbed the keeper to put Whitley 1-0 up after only 2 minutes. The second soon followed when a Cramlington attack was broke down by Whitley with the ball falling to Julie Smith (Jules) whose defence splitting pass was latched onto by Brooke Wilkinson who cut in and fired a great left foot shot across the keeper. After absorbing some rare blue star pressure Whitley's 3rd came after 23 minutes with Helen Drinkeld coolly slotting home a Jules cross, minutes later Whitley made it 4-0 when Brooke got her second latching onto a through ball and calmly finishing. On the half hour, Jules took over the captains armband with Janine Fagan limping off injured. Just before half time Brooke completed her hat trick making it 5-0 with a cracking first time finish from a Leeanne cross. Cramlington came out determined in the second half and applied more pressure to the Whitley back four, however it was soon 6-0 with a great passing move starting from Louanne Gascoigne at the back worked out wide for Helen Drinkeld to drill in the cross and Leeanne turned it in for her second. Cramlington pulled one back from a corner on the hour with a great header giving Furno no chance. On 70 mins Whitley's scoring started again with a scramble from a corner resulting in Neeley Spicer hammering the ball into the top corner making it 7-1. 5 minutes later a great through ball from Kayleigh Dalziel was calmly slotted home into the bottom corner by Leeanne to complete her hat trick, 8-1. After another tireless display up front Jules finally got her reward after 82 mins, with her hassling causing a mix up in the Blue Star defence she finished into an empty net making it 9-1 and a great result for the reserves.

Whilteys Reserves travelled to Wooler to face a strong Glendale side who last season competed in the Regional League. Whitley found them to be tough opponents and neither side were able to create any meaningful chances in a very close first half. Glendale were pressuring the ball very well and defending with great tenacity. In the second half, the game started to open up as both sides started to tire after great workrate and it was Glendale who made the breakthrough. On 53 minutes a superb corner from the impressive Kirsty Tang was met by a Glendale player who headed powerfully under the diving Whitley keeper. Whitley made some tactical substitutions and pushed players forward in an effort to save the game. They were enjoying the best of possession and on 70 minutes a great ball by Janine Fagan was taken in her stride by Brooke Wilkison who went past the defender and goalkeeper and fired home to bring the game level. Whitley weren't satisfied with a point and poured forward, sometimed with 4 players in striking positions to cause real problems for the Glendale defence. With a minute on the clock, Glendale were pegged back and a loose ball fall to Brooke Wilkinson some 25 yards from goal. She let fly with a great left foot shot that rocketed into the back of the net to give Whitley the win and maintain their 100% record. Watching First team manager Colin Phillips was impressed with the win 'This was a great result against a very good and experienced Glendale side'

Whitley were away to Tynedale and quickly settled into the game as Brooke Wilkinson took the ball on in the first minute, rounded a defender and slotted past the startled keeper. Tynedale regained their composure and defended well until the 20th minute when Jules Smith pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the box that had been spilled by the keeper and calmly side footed the ball into the unguarded net. The game was being played mostly in the Tynedale half, but they were well organised in defence and were restricting Whitley to very few chances. After half time, Whitley made a tactical change and went with 3 up front but it wasn't until the hour mark when they made a further breakthrough. Kayleigh Dalziel played a great ball to Jules who hit a great shot across the keeper into the far corner of the net. She claimed her hat-trick 2 minutes later when Stef Van Elswijk was the provider and Jules cracked her shot into the bottom corner .Tynedale were persevering, catching Whitley offside on numerous occasions and making attacks themselves, but they rarely threatened the Bay goal. On 80 minutes, a Brooke corner wasn't cleared and Stef made no mistake with a fine left foot volley. 5 minutes to go, Whitley completed the scoring and made it 6-0 when Stef played another great through ball which Kayleigh took in her stride and calmly side footed into the corner of the net.

Whitley started the second half brightly and within minutes Brooke completed her hat trick, holding onto a Janine through ball before creating the space for her self to fire home. Brooke got her fourth on the hour, with another passing move calmly slotted home by the impressive youngster. KILLINGWORTH |

Whitley Reserves faced Killingworth at Marden Bridge in a game that meant a lot to both sides, with Whitley looking to maintain their 100% start to the season. Killingworth were well organised and their well drilled back line caught Whitley offside on numerous occasions. It was Killingworth that made the breakthrough on 20 minutes, when a poor clearance fell to the feet of Mel Stroughton who calmy lofted the ball over the Whitley keeper. Whitley were unable to create any clear cut chances until the 35 minute when Brooke Wilkinson showed great persistance down the left and got a cross in for Julie Smith to meet at the back post and head into the net for 1-1. Just before half time, Whitley took the lead with a cracker from Abby Forster, as she hit the ball from outside the box over the keeper into the top corner. After the interval, Whitley enjoyed the majority of possession and a free kick just inside the Killingworth half was taken by Stef Van Elswijk. It fell to the feet of Brooke Wilkinson who took a touch to control and then lashed an unstoppable left foot shot into the roof of the net to put Whitley 3 up. Killingworth then rallied and fought back to get into the game and just after the hour, Stroughton got her second to put them in touching distance. Minutes later she had claimed her hat-trick and it was game on again. Whitley re-grouped and were looking for the winner and with 10 minutes on the clock, Kayleigh Dalziel, who had battled all game, showed great tenacity in winning the ball in the Killigworth box and the ball fell to Brooke Wilkinson who claimed her second of the game by drilling the ball into the corner of the net for 4-3 to Whitley. This was a great win for Whitley Reserves against Killingworth and was a great advert for the County League. The game also marked the return to competitive football for Donna Brown, out for a year with cruciate ligament damage. Donna came on for the last 10 minutes and everyone wishes her the best of luck in her return to match fitness.

Whitley faced a capable Blue Star team and were forced to field only 10 players after a sickness bug had struck the squad. They knew they would have to start the game well and it took only 5 minutes for them to go ahead after Brooke Wilkinson played in Janine Fagan to open the scoring with a great shot from the edge of the box. They were 2 up in a minute when a Steph Van Elswijk free kick was cleverly flicked on by Kayleigh Dalziel for Abby Forster to finish well. The game settled with Blue Star mounting attacks of their own, but on 25 minutes Julie Smith played a ball for Wilkinson to run on to and she smashed a great shot into the corner. On 36 minutes an identical goal, this time with Fagan the provider and once again Wilkinson the grateful scorer. Blue Star were glad to see half time and they came out determined. However, on 48 minuites Fagan took matters into her own hands as she went on a mazy solo run past 4 players and calmly slotted the ball home. Blue Star started to press home the player advantage and as Whitley tired, they got a foothold in the game. They counter attacked with great purpose on the 51 minute to pull one back, then on the 74 minute, Whitley failed to clear a corner and it was 5-2 with Blue Star on top. Whitley worked hard to plug the gaps and held on until the 88 minute when another corner led to a Blue Star goal. With the final score at 5-3 to Whitley, it was a hard earned win, with Blue Star having a great second half. Claire Tennet Whitleys manager said ' I was pleased that we scored when we did and had a reasonable lead to hold on to. Credit to Blue Star for fighting back and making a real good game'

Whitley Reserves were away at Glendale and elected to kick against the strong wind that was blowing the length of the field. Glendale had Whitley penned in their own half for long periods and had chances to put the game beyond Whitley's reach. It took until the 21 minute when Whitley were unable to clear their lines and a looping shot from distance sailed over the Whitley keepers head into the net. Whitley were making rare excursions into the Glendale half and were battling hard to keep the ball out of their half. However, on the 37 minute, a clearance cannoned off the Glendale forward and shot into the Whitley net for a fortunate second to Glendale. Whitley were relieved to hear the half time whistle and after the interval, set about creating some territorial advantage for themselves. On 52 minutes, Donna Brown played a ball across goal for Brooke Wilkinson to smash home. Their tails were up and they pressed forward, with the Glendale keeper making 2 good saves from point blank range. On 65 minutes, a Donna Brown corner wasn't cleared and Laurel Davidson returned the ball with power into the corner of the net. Whitley were now looking to win the game and on 75 minutes they went ahead when Abby Forster seized on a loose ball on the edge of the box and rifled the ball into the corner of the net. Within a minute they went 4-2 up when Claire Tennet played a long pass to Julie Smith who gained reward for her hard work by side footing home from the angle. The game was put beyond doubt when on 80 minutes, a Kayleigh Dalziel cross was deflected into her own net by a Glendale defender trying to clear. Overall, a game of two halves, dictated by the wind, but Whitley's superior finishing won the game.

Good attacking display from Whitley played on a very muddy Tynedale pitch. Whitley were camped in the Tynedale half for most of the game and began the scoring after 5 minutes when Brooke Wilkinson latched onto a Janine Fagan through ball and slotted home. On 15 minute persistence up front led to a chance for Julie Smith, who made no mistake and calmly placed the ball in the bottom corner. On the half hour Janine ran onto a Brooke through ball and fired home, this was quickly followed by Janine's second when she coolly slotted in a penalty after a clear Tynedale handball in the box. Just before half time Brooke got her second, carrying the ball forward and creating her own space and lashing an unstoppable left foot shot past the keeper. Just after half time Janine completed her hat trick latching onto an Abby Forster through ball and firing home. Janine then got her fourth cutting in from the left and made no mistake. After 55 minutes Kayleigh Dalziel got on the score sheet after a great first time through ball from Abby left her one on one and she calmly finished. On the hour a poor timed tackle on Brooke on the edge of the box gave Whitley a free kick. No body was getting the ball off Donna Brown, and she despatched it over the wall and into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. Brooke got her hat trick not long after, finishing a great move of one touch football through the Whitley midfield. Kayleigh got her second on 75 minutes, after another superb ball by Abby and (despite cries from Janine to place it) Kayleigh powered it home past the keeper! On 83 minutes Abby broke the offside trap, despite Tynedale objections, leaving her up the pitch on her own. She carried the ball forward then unselfishly squared it to Janine who side footed it into the net for her fifth. The rout was finished on 88 minutes when a poor kick from the keeper was intercepted by Kayleigh, who carried the ball forward then cheekily lobbed the keeper for her hat trick. A strong display from Whitley to continue their 100% record.

A hard earned victory for Whitley against a battling and well organised Medics side. Playing into the blustery wind in the first half Whitley struggled to get their passing going. After 25 mins Captain Janine Fagan broke the dead lock, latching onto a loose ball in the box after good hassling by the forwards Janine side footed home. The score remained at 1-0 until half time. Whitley livened up in the second half, pouring pressure onto the Medics back four. Persistence paid off after 55 mins when a goal kick from the keeper was intercepted by Julie Smith, who coolly side footed the ball into the open net from distance. Brooke Wilkinson got the third not long after, latching onto a long ball from the back she carried the ball forward before finishing over the keepers head. Whitley made it 4-0 on the hour mark, again after pressure on the defence by Brooke and Jules the ball broke to Abbey Forster who caught the keeper off her line and curled the ball around her into the unguarded net. After 72 mins Whitley earned a free kick after a foul on Janine, which Donna Brown coolly curled into the top corner making it 5-0. Whitley Reserves faced Killingworth at Marden Bridge looking to preserve their 100% record. They started in determined fashion and it took only 8 minutes for them to go ahead as Janine Fagan crossed the ball for Julie Smith to steal in and nod home from close range. They were 2 up after 11 minutes as Laurel Davidson had the ball at her feet and played in Brooke Wilkinson to finish smartly. The game then settled as Killingworth started to find their rhythm but Whitley went further ahead on the half hour when Abby Forster was brought down in the box and Fagan smashed home from the spot. They then went 4 up as Wilkinson played the ball through for Jade Emmerson to slot home her first goal for Whitley.
After the interval Whitley were back on the attack and after 53 minutes Wilkinson broke clear and hit a great shot which cannoned off the post and Smith was there to knock in the re-bound. Whitley were playing some great stuff and Killingworth heads were down as on the hour Davidson played another great ball to Wilkinson who hit a powerful shot into the roof of the net that gave the keeper no chance. Some great goalkeeping and wayward finishing kept the score at 6-0 until ten minutes from time when Fagan again split the defence for Leeanne Davison to control and side foot into the corner. The scoring was complete 4 minutes from time when Fagan was again the provider to Davidson for a deserved goal.
8-0 the final score and Claire Tennet was pleased with the win ‘Our last game with Killingworth was very close and we knew that we would have to start really well’

Champions!!! With thoughts of the title on their mind Whitley started the game on edge with a lot of panic football failing to produce any end products to Whitley's attacking play. Glendale took full advantage of this to go 1-0 up after 20 mins with a long ball down the wing which was well controlled and crossed with the Glendale striker giving the keeper no chance. With the weather taking a turn for the worse Whitley were defending against wind, rain and hail and did well to go into the break only one goal down. The team rallied at half time and seemed to lose their nerves as they began the second half on the attack. The equaliser finally came on the hour when a shot by Brooke Wilkinson was saved, the ball fell to Jade Emmerson whose shot hit the post but fell to the feet of Julie Smith, who finally fired home. Whitley's jubilation got the better of them and Glendale re took the lead within minutes when a cross was cleared straight to the attacker’s feet, who fired across the keeper into the bottom corner. Whitley were then camped in the Glendale half and Brookes determination paid off up the left when she broke the offside trap with her first shot hitting the keeper she made no mistake with the rebound making it 2-2 with 18 mins to go. The team kept their composure this time and finally began to play a bit. With 14 mins left a Donna Brown corner was cleared to Neeley Spicer, who played the ball back to Donna, who clinically lifted the ball from out wide over the keepers head and into the top corner. The title was secure with 8 mins to go when Captain Janine Fagan bundled the ball through and created herself an opening and she made no mistake firing the ball past the helpless keeper. Great win and the celebrations were just beginning!

Whitley faced an early morning kick off at Cramlington and the management were relieved to see that everyone had remembered to put their clocks forward! Games against Cramlington have been close affairs and Whitley knew they would have to work hard to keep their 100% record. It proved to be the case as the opening minutes were evenly balanced with Cramlington having the territorial advantage due to a strong wind at their backs. Whitley weathered the storm and went ahead on 19 minutes as Janine Fagan played a ball wide to Abby Forster who struck the ball early from outside the box around the advancing keeper. They were starting to play some passing football and on 36 minutes went further ahead when a Brooke Wilkinson corner wasn’t cleared and Jade Emmerson stabbed home from close range. With the wind at their backs in the second half, Whitley were playing the game in the Cramlington half and on the hour Donna Brown played a great ball to Wilkinson who controlled and fired an excellent shot into the corner. Whitley made substitutions and reshuffled their defence which allowed Cramlington to expose some lack of organisation and on the break they forced a corner that wasn’t cleared and was fired into the net. Shortly afterwards, on 70 Minutes, they caught Whitley on the break and a simple ball through the middle was slotted home for 3-2. A tense final few minutes ensued but Whitley finished the stronger, hitting the bar and forcing the Cramlington keeper into some good saves. 3-2 the final score and Whitley’s long winning run continues, with only one game left.

Whitley played their final game away at Killingworth in blizzard conditions as the snow and sleet made the conditions very difficult. They went ahead within minutes of the kick off as Julie Smith played a ball through to Laurel Davidson who slotted home. As the conditions worsened, neither side were able to produce any decent football, but it was Whitley who were pressing and were caught offside on numerous occasions. On 30 minutes, against the run of play, Killingworth equalised as the Whitley keeper tried to play a ball out of defence and she was dispossessed by the Killingworth forward who had the easy task of rolling the ball into the empty net. Whitley hit back almost immediately when Abby Forster played in Laurel Davidson who made no mistake. On 40 minutes they were 3-1 up as Wilkinson latched onto a Janine Fagan through ball. Her first touch was parried by the keeper but Wilkinson found herself in the clear as the ball squirted beyond the keeper and she knocked it in. As the snow poured down, the referee blew for half time. After a short interval, it was agreed by all partied that it would be unsafe to continue and Killingworth graciously allowed the score to stand as a 3-1 result to Whitley Bay.
